China sent 200 thousand Sinovac Vaccines to Thailand



UMMATIMES - China sent 200 thousand doses of Sinovac Biotech Vaccine to Thailand which will be used for inoculation in the coming days. 200 thousand doses of the vaccine were brought from China by using Thai Airways aircraft.

"Thank you to the People's Republic of China for sending vaccines this month and the following months," said Prayuth, Bangkok, Wednesday (24/2).

The arrival of this vaccine comes amid public criticism highlighting the slow pace of the government in securing the vaccine.

Apart from Sinovac, Thailand will also use AstraZeneca for vaccination.

Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said 117,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine would arrive on Wednesday and Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha would be among the first recipients this weekend. Most of the vaccines will be prioritized for medical personnel.

Thailand aims to inject 1.8 million doses of CoronaVac in March and April into health workers and at-risk groups. To date, Thailand has recorded around 25 thousand Covid cases ..




Thailand plans to start mass immunization in June. The government is targeting injecting 10 million doses a month.




In the mass vaccination, Thailand used 26 million injections of the AstraZeneca vaccine produced by local company Siam Bioscience. They have also produced 35 million spare doses.




The government hopes to vaccinate more than half of the adult population this year.
