Pakistani Prime Minister's Wife Contracts Corona Virus



UMMATIMES - On Saturday, March 20, 2021, Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, tested positive for Covid-19. Bibi was caught with the corona virus a few hours after Khan tested positive for Covid-19.

"I want to thank the people of Pakistan and those abroad for the prayers that the First Lady and I get well," Khan said on Twitter.

Prime Minister Khan became infected with the coronavirus just two days after he received his first injection of the coronavirus vaccine from Sinopharm. Khan, 68, is a former baseball athlete. The country he leads is currently facing the third wave of the corona virus outbreak.

Pakistani Prime Minister's special assistant for politics and communications Shahbaz Gill said Khan and his wife were well with mild symptoms of Covid-19. Gill also explained that Prime Minister Khan and the First Lady were grateful for the prayers sent to them.

Among those who sent prayers for Khan and his wife was Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Saturday, March 20, 2021, Modi hopes that Prime Minister Khan can quickly recover from Covid-19.

Khan assured him he would continue to carry out his duties, one of which was via video conference. Previously, the Prime Minister's special assistant for foreign affairs Syed Zulfi Bukhari said Khan had mild symptoms of Covid-19 in the form of cough and fever.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan and his wife were caught infected with the corona virus on Saturday, March 20, 2021 or the day when Pakistan recorded the highest number of positive cases of Covid-19 since July 2020. According to Johns Hopkins University in Pakistan there were 626,802 cases of the corona virus. Of that number, 13,843 Covid-19 patients died.
