Greece Loosens Lockdowns; Relaxation in society

UMMATIMES - Greece will relax its lockdown rules so as to provide a bit of relaxation to people tired of protracted activity restrictions. Relaxation lockdown is valid as of April 5, 2021.

"We are aware of the psychology of fatigue, but the Covid-19 pandemic still shows its dangers so that more relaxation cannot be done, only a little breath of freedom," said Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias.

By loosening this rule, shops may operate again through a method of limiting the number of people who can be in stores. That means, consumers must first make an appointment to go to the shop they are looking for and can only be in the store for three hours.

Retailers are prohibited from allowing overcrowding of visitors to their shops. The policy does not apply to malls or department stores, which have yet to close.

The Greek government also relaxed regulations, initially limiting the number of people wishing to leave the city. Starting from Saturday, April 3, 2021, people may drive outside the city to get fresh air.

“The new Covid-19 variant is more contagious than before. We are under great pressure on the hospital system, especially in the capital city of Athens, ”said Greek Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias.

On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Greece reported 3,616 new positive cases of Covid-19 and 76 corona virus patients who ended in death. That way, there are a total of 263,689 cases of corona virus infection in Greece and 8,093 patients who have died from the virus.

Greece's condition was better than other countries in Europe last year, but it rose again. Several hospitals are under pressure, even though the lockdown has been imposed and the corona virus vaccine immunization has been implemented.
