Russia: US Is Not A Reliable Partner

UMMATIMES - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said his country was ready to respond to any new sanctions that the United States (US) wanted to impose on his country. He said all attempts to pressure Moscow were doomed to fail.

Lavrov described US policy towards Russia as "dead-end", even "stupid". He stressed that a series of past Washington sanctions had failed to realize its goals.

"Such actions have taught us one thing: We need to rely on ourselves because the US and its allies are not reliable partners. Of course we will respond to any unfriendly move," Lavrov said on the sidelines of his visit to Kazakhstan on Thursday ( 8/4).

Last month, Russia withdrew its ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov. This was done in response to comments by US President Joe Biden who called Russian President Vladimir Putin a killer. This statement was made by Biden when commenting on the poisoning case of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny.
