China Releases 3 Astronauts with Ceremony



UMMATIMES - Three Chinese astronauts manning the Shenzhou-12 spacecraft are released during a ceremonial event from Wentiange Field, Satellite Launch Center in Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, Thursday morning (17/6).

The three astronauts Nie Haisheng (57 years old), Liu Boming (57 years old), and Tang Hongbo (45 years old) arrived at the field wearing full clothes including helmets at 06.32 local time (05.32 WIB). The Shenzhou-12 spacecraft is expected to launch at 09:22 local time.

The crew will then stay in orbit for three months to carry out construction missions for the Chinese space station. "All systems on the Shenzhou-12 mission have undergone comprehensive training. The flight crew is in good condition," Ji Qiming, Assistant Technical Director of China's Spacecraft, said at a press conference on Wednesday (16/6).
