Indonesia - Oman Holds Virtual Business Forum



UMMATIMES - A number of high-ranking officials and business people from Indonesia and Oman on Thursday, June 17, 2021, participated in the "Indonesia-Oman Virtual Business Forum". The implementation of the Indonesia-Oman Virtual Business Forum is part of the celebration of 43 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Oman.

This Business Forum is expected to make participants gain an understanding of the potential of the two countries and realize the importance of strengthening cooperation, especially after the pandemic period.

Indonesia-Oman Virtual Business Forum with the theme "Indonesia-Oman Partnership: A Bridge to the World". Among the speakers present were Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga S. Uno and Minister of Energy and Minerals of Oman Mohammed Al-Rumhi.

On that occasion, the speakers presented the latest policy developments in the tourism, energy, and investment sectors in the two countries as well as opportunities to increase cooperation between Indonesia and Oman.

This Business Forum was also used by participants and resource persons to exchange ideas and provide inputs for increasing Indonesia-Oman cooperation, especially in the fields of economy and tourism.

This Business Forum is expected to be the forerunner to holding more other business meetings, such as the ones initiated by the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat between companies in Oman and companies in Indonesia.

In the January-March 2021 period, the trade value between Indonesia and Oman was recorded at USD 201.3 million. That figure increased by 23.14 percent compared to the value of trade in the same period last year, which amounted to USD 163.5 million.

Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, Indonesia's main export products to Oman in 2020 include palm oil, paper, cardboard, toilet paper, facial tissue, towels, rags and charcoal. Meanwhile, Indonesia's main imported products from Oman in 2020 include semi-finished goods made of iron or steel, gypsum, iron ore and concentrates.
