Turkey's Covid-19 Vaccine Candidate Enters Final Stage Test

UMMATIMES - Turkey's Covid-19 vaccine candidate has reached the final stages of trials.

"Next week, Turkey will vaccinate volunteers for Phase III trials," Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said Wednesday.

"Many vaccine development projects are underway. One of them is in the final stages," he said after a virtual meeting of the Coronavirus Scientific Advisory Council.

On Thursday, Turkey also entered a new phase of its vaccination campaign for those aged 45 and over. "People over the age of 40 will also be included in the vaccination program next Monday," Koca added.

Meanwhile, scientific studies on whether the Covid-19 vaccine provides immunity for a period of time and the need for a third dose for people who have received two doses of the vaccine are also ongoing.

Since Turkey started its Covid-19 vaccination campaign on January 14, Turkey has given more than 31.75 million dose injections.
