China's Real Action to Reconcile Israel and Palestine

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi facilitated Palestinian and Israeli negotiators to negotiate directly in the world's second largest economy.

UMMATIMES - This was emphasized by Wang at a symposium supporting Palestinian and Israeli peace which was facilitated by Beijing on Thursday (15/7).

On that occasion, he put forward four proposals. The first is to promote a shared commitment to peace, to urge stakeholders to prevent violence, and to expand the role of peace advocates.

"We will continue to invite Palestinian and Israeli youths to come to China for dialogue to cultivate the seeds of peace," said Wang, who is also a member of the State Council or coordinating ministerial level.

Second, China calls for further efforts at peace talks.

Marking the 30th anniversary of the Madrid Peace Conference, he reminded that the principle of "land for peace" echoed in the conference is part of the process of creating Palestinian-Israeli peace.

Third, related to the difficulties experienced by the Palestinian people, he called for the importance of increasing humanitarian assistance to Palestine and lifting the blockade and siege on Gaza.

China has provided $1 million in humanitarian aid to Palestine and donated $1 million in cash to the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) after the escalation of Palestinian-Israeli tensions eased in May.

Fourth, Wang reiterated the importance of finding a solution for the two countries.

"A biased or exclusive solution will not work. China supports the United Nations in playing a leading role," Wang added.
