Daily Covid-19 Cases in New South Wales Drop

The state of New South Wales in Australia reported a decline in new positive cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Previously for two consecutive days the daily Covid-19 infection rate there experienced an increase.

The decline in daily positive cases of Covid-19 came after people in the capital city of Sydney were asked to obey the rules. That way, the lockdown can be ended next week.

New South Wales is the most populous state in Australia. On Saturday, July 3, 2021, there were 16 new positive cases of Covid-19. Of that number, 13 cases are in self-quarantine status.

This number has decreased compared to Friday, July 2, 2021, which recorded 35 new cases of corona virus infection or the highest daily case throughout 2021 in New South Wales. The previous highest daily case occurred on Thursday, July 1, 2021, with 31 positive cases of Covid-19.

"For the time being, last night's figures (new positive cases of Covid-19) are very encouraging. We realize that number could rise again. The days ahead will be very critical," said New South Wales state prime minister Gladys Berejiklian.

Australia is one of the countries that can handle the Covid-19 pandemic better than other countries in the world. The way, Australia enforces a strict lockdown, tracing the contacts of those who are positive for Covid-19 and strict social distancing rules.

However, the highly contagious Delta Covid-19 variant has alarmed authorities. Moreover, this happened when mass immunization against the corona virus vaccine nationally experienced a slowdown and brought three state capitals into lockdown at the weekend.
