Egypt Receives 3.5 Million Tourists in January-June

Egypt's tourism revenues range from $3.5 billion to $4 billion during the first half of 2021. The country receives about 3.5 million tourists from January to June.


UMMATIMES - State revenues from vital sectors were around $4 billion in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic, down 70% from $13.03 billion in 2019."We expect tourist numbers to increase 45% to 60% in the next period compared to last year," said Deputy Minister of Tourism of Egypt, Ghada Shalaby

The average tourist spend per night is around $95, he added. Tourism revenue is an important source of foreign currency for Egypt and industry typically accounts for up to 15% of the country's gross domestic product.
