Singapore Sends Oxygen and Ventilators

The Singaporean government has again sent aid for handling Covid-19 to Indonesia. Medical equipment assistance consisting of 200 ventilators, 756 oxygen cylinders, 600 oxygen concentrators and various PPE needs for the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, and the Indonesian Armed Forces Headquarters were handed over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore Vivian Balakrishnan to the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, in Paya Lebar Singapore Air Base.

UMMATIMES - In a press release at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, Friday (9/7), Foreign Minister Vivian said that Singapore, as Indonesia's closest neighbor, would continue to support and assist Indonesia in this difficult situation. Vivian hopes that this assistance can help overcome the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

"We know that the Delta variant spreads very quickly and of course we hope that Indonesia will soon be able to control its transmission cases," said the Singapore Foreign Minister.

Foreign Minister Vivian also appreciated Indonesia, which at the beginning of the pandemic provided assistance in the form of equipment to build a place to isolate Covid-19 patients in Singapore.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo stated, in a difficult situation with a high increase in Covid-19 cases, what is most needed is true friends. "Singapore has shown to be a true friend to Indonesia. Not only the Singaporean government has been so quick to provide assistance, but also Singaporean companies and the people who are called to provide assistance for the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia," Ambassador Tommy said.

Meanwhile, the delivery of aid was carried out in two stages. In the first stage, 200 ventilators, 250 empty oxygen cylinders, 30 oxygen concentrators, and medical equipment were sent using 2 (two) C-130 aircraft belonging to the RSAF (Singapore Air Force). The rest of the aid will be sent using the Singapore Navy Ship (RSN) on July 11, 2021 to the Port of Tanjung Priok, Jakarta. In addition to the Singapore Government, a local company, Temasek, in collaboration with an Indonesian company, Barito Pacific, provided assistance of 1,500 oxygen concentrators to Indonesia. is currently located in Shanghai, China. The Indonesian government picks up directly from Shanghai using commercial cargo planes.
