The White House Deploys Special Teams To Exterminate Delta Variants All Over America

The White House on Thursday (1/7) said it would send special teams to flashpoints across the United States to combat the highly contagious variant of the COVID-19 Delta and asked Americans to be vaccinated.

UMMATIMES - White House COVID-19 senior adviser Jeffrey Zients told reporters that a "surge response" team was ready to accelerate the supply of additional tests and therapies to communities experiencing a spike in COVID-19 cases.

The number of COVID-19 cases for the week in the US is up 10 percent since last week, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Rochelle Walensky said Tuesday.

The more contagious Delta variant, which was initially detected in India, is thought to be the most common COVID-19 variant in the US, he added.

"It's clear that communities where people are still unvaccinated are communities that are still vulnerable," he said, adding that more than 1,000 US counties recorded vaccination rates below 30 percent.

Zients said federal personnel would assist the community by providing public health staff and the CDC would provide assistance to deal with potential outbreaks.

The US is still at the forefront of COVID-19 vaccination in the world. More than 180 million Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
