Roller Coaster in Japan Suddenly Stops, Trapped Passengers Evacuated

The roller coaster at Universal Studios Japan in Konohana-ku, Osaka, stops on the tracks due to a power outage.

"Passengers when they were at the top suddenly stopped the train because the electricity went out," said a source from Tribunnews.com, Friday (10/22/2021).

According to Universal Studios Japan, the blackout occurred Friday (10/22/2021) at around 2:45 p.m. and all attractions in the park were closed.

Of these, the roller coaster stopped near the top of the tracks.

Currently staff are on the tracks to evacuate the passengers and bring them down.

According to Kansai Electric Power Co. Inc. blackouts have occurred in 520 homes in Konohana Ward and Minato Ward, where Universal Studios Japan is located.

"We are investigating the cause," said Kansai Electric, Friday (10/22/2021).
