Asian Student Attacked in US, Victim Beaten and Kicked on Train

Philadelphia Police are investigating the attack on a male student believed to be Asian or Asian-American on a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) train. The incident occurred last Wednesday at around 3.30pm on the Broad Street Line, near Erie Station.

Ummatimes - The video of the brutal attack is now circulating on social media. In the video, the female perpetrators, who are still teenagers, attack the male victim who is thought to be still in high school.

Nearby, a student who is also thought to be of Asian descent tries to stop the attack on the victim. But the student is also the next victim.

One of the attackers lunged at the student and banged his head against the train door. The other members of the assault group followed suit, starting to kick and punch him as he lay on the ground.

A man finally intervened before the video ended. It is not clear what happened next. The incident has been reported to the SEPTA police.

According to Fox news agency, the female victim has reported the incident to the SEPTA Transit Police. He was rushed to the hospital and treated for lacerations.

SEPTA Police launched an investigation and worked closely with the Philadelphia Police Department and schools in the area. Police have identified the attackers and found other victims – one female victim and three male victims from high school. In addition, two other suspects have been identified.

The four suspects in the video are women aged 13-16 years. SEPTA Transit Police Chief Thomas Nestel said the perpetrators were now awaiting charges, including ethnic intimidation, serious assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering others and terrorist threats.

Nestel praised the female victim of the train attack and called her a hero. "He told the girls to stop but then became a target. Truly heroic, brave."

The mother of one of the suspects handed over her daughter after seeing the video go viral.

The victim did not suffer serious injuries. But the boy's victim's mother told CBS she was attacked because she was of Asian descent.

The day before, the same perpetrator had also attacked a group of Asian male students. They shouted at their victims with racial slurs. The attack took place on the express train in Olney on Tuesday.
